the speak went great! when i first saw all the people that were there i became really petrified.....i dont know how i did it, but it's done. The talk was about an hour or so, and the demo was about 45 minutes. my hands were shaking at the beginning of the demo, but thank god the piece came out decent enough. Meeting all the staff and students was great. After the talk the very awesome nathan ota and bob dob took me out to diner and coffee. I learned so much in the dinner that night than some 14 week classes at art center.

in other news, im exicted cause i finished my job early this month. for the rest of december i will do nothing but personal paintings. i just started this piece today........going to add a little more do thats then it should be done.

cold feet!

i always try to be a man of my words. but sometimes i just got to back down. i was asked to give a lecture and a demo at otis college of arts and design. at that moment, i foolishly accepted. but now, so many things are going threw my head. what do i say, what do i paint, what if i mess up. i was even thinking about going in with an ear piece. i took speech class in city college and i failed miserably. i just can't speak infront of a large crowd. there's a small chance that i would still do it, but as of right now, i don't think it's such a good idea. here's a comp of what i was suppose to paint.

hope everyone had a great thanksgiving day!

down a member

for the past 11 days i've been hanging out with my good friend alvaro sanz. we've been friends since i was 14 years old. the ins is on his tale so he had no choice but to leave us soil and head to spain. indeed a sad day for us. this was takin a couple of hours before his flight.

so after almost 2 weeks of basically doing nothing but hanging out, im behind some deadlines, and so driven to paint. here's something I just started. this is a quick sketch for the painting's background.

this piece is about high maintenance. been hanging out with a friend of mine, and she inspired this piece.
this is one of the pieces that i will show at dva gallery in chicago. shooting this was a bit tricky
cause it's very glossy, so i had to take one at an angle.

Graphic Novel

i was commisioned to illustrate 5 paintings for a graphic novel.i decided to use oils for this project. i had so much fun going back to oils that i started a side project in the back. every time i took a break, i would paint small portions to the canvas in back. paintng with goauche, i would never wash my brush and it would still be good.
now that im messing with oil, i still forget to clean the brush.

wow, i haven't spent 9 hours on a painting since graduating. still tons to do, but i cant stand working on a piece for too long, so im going to put this away for a couple of weeks. i really don't know how people paint on a wacom. 4 hours in and my arm was in pain! it's funny when i paint with gouache, the image always turn out graphic which is the reason why i paint quicker. but when im using oils or digi it forces me to turn form. anyways i was ask to illustrate this using only shades of blue, orange, black and white.

the awesome guu press did an interview with me the week of my graduation. if anyone is having trouble sleeping, then read this.......it will knock you right out:)

    white snow

i started this painting about a month ago.....i gave up abou 40 minutes in, when i realize that the comp looked better than the painting. the drawing is the post below.......getting ready to toss this painting aside, i tried spraypainting the hair in an attempt to save it. one of my most simplist painting yet, but i think it works. the other painting is a digi, just trying to learn more about cs2.

    buildings.

recently i've been painting alot of buildings in the back.
i some how like the comp better than the painting.
my good friend david jein told me to start doing my comps on better paper and using it as a piece instead of throwing it away. since then i've been spending alittle more time on my comps.
the last one is not finished, but im just excited about it cause i learn how to use layers. i use to paint everything in one layer and wondered why people used 40+ layers. now i know, thanks eric.

i know it doesn't look anything close to the comp, but plans changed. what was suppose to be 8 people on the wall ended up just being me. this is the biggest mural i've ever done. this is only half of the wall and shows no sign of being done any time soon.

    STREET CRED

it really sucks when i roll with the homie rek2. everywhere we go. OMG your rek, can you do something in my book. long ago people asked me too, feels like my name is forgotten. so my new years resolution was to paint once a month.
