let your oils dry

im working on several oil paintings at the same time, just because the wait for one to dry is too long. here is one of the pieces im currently working on. about 45 percent done.

i got this in the mail yesterday.
a box full of swallow 4:) artist includes vania zouravliov, kent williams, ash, paul pope, james jean, brom, toby, sane glines, teddy kristiansen, jim mahfood, and bill presing. all of my works in there are oldddd and back then a majority of my paintings were horizontal. but yeah, it's out now!!!!!!!

one man's trash is another man's treasure. this is only a quarter of art supplies that was given to me. 12 boxes of old holland, sennelier, schmincke mussini. i have no reason not to go to painting workshop now. 4 sitting on the painting below.

speed painting

here's a time lapse of a commission i recently finished. I enjoyed working on this piece because all of the movie watching that had to be done.
the video looks like it's been shoot with a camera phone and the lighting is horrible. my light went out the night before, so the lighting is very dim. my next video will be better.

my roots.

these two paintings has nothing to do with my current work. I just wanted to see if i can still do traditional and graffiti art.
one of my old graffiti buddy is serving time in prison:( I thought it would cheer him up a little if i did his name......... I'm not sure if he'll get the work tho............ the guards might think it's a map to escape or something. or maybe i've been watching too much prisonbreak. the other is a portrait of moms. thought it might make a good birthday present. stopped working on it cause i know she'll HATE it.

taiwan love!!!

about 3 months ago, I was featured in one of taiwan's xfuns art mag. Dpi magazine then contacted me and did a 4 page interview with me. since then taiwan has been showing major love to me. Just wanted to thank taiwan for all the support!

about 2 years ago i gave all my acrylic paint to my friend. i swore that i would never use that medium again. in order for me to get the look i was going for i had to go acrylic. when i use acrylic my painting turns more form. graphic look i use gouache, realistic look i use oils, in between look i use acrylic. im weird that way.

3 legged legs contacted me saying they want to bring my characters to life. I really cant wait to see what they come up with.
they're trying to make my characters into puppets. Been drawing up sooooooooo many characters.........by the time i get home my hands start to ache and my creativity runs low. makes me think if i should freelance in something non art related and save up my hands for studio time.

inspired.

okay, so i get inspired very easily. when i was a teen i saw electric boogaloo and beat street. the next week i was breakdancing on cardboards. that lasted about 4 years. now after seeing ratatouille, i find myself cooking a lot. the only thing i ever cooked before was eggs, rice, and instant ramen. it's very relaxing for me, but im not use to putting so much time into something that last only a couple of minutes.

funny story- anyone remember the scene in "something about mary" when matt dillon met a real architecture. the same thing happen to me while ridding my moped. i saw an old friend and join her for a quick bite. her best friend brought a friend she's been talking to for a couple of weeks. they asked me what i did and i said "im an artist". my friend said ohhhhhhh matt's an artist too. "show him your work matt", the dude was scared shitless when she said that. i saw the work..............it was print outs of james jean work, phil hale, jon foster, etc !!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wanted soooo bad to say "you must of studied under tom green" a line from something about mary. but i knew it would have been very ackward after.........made me a bit mad, but hey im not going to ____ block.

first painting for the new year...

the speak went great! when i first saw all the people that were there i became really petrified.....i dont know how i did it, but it's done. The talk was about an hour or so, and the demo was about 45 minutes. my hands were shaking at the beginning of the demo, but thank god the piece came out decent enough. Meeting all the staff and students was great. After the talk the very awesome nathan ota and bob dob took me out to diner and coffee. I learned so much in the dinner that night than some 14 week classes at art center.

in other news, im exicted cause i finished my job early this month. for the rest of december i will do nothing but personal paintings. i just started this piece today........going to add a little more do thats then it should be done.

cold feet!

i always try to be a man of my words. but sometimes i just got to back down. i was asked to give a lecture and a demo at otis college of arts and design. at that moment, i foolishly accepted. but now, so many things are going threw my head. what do i say, what do i paint, what if i mess up. i was even thinking about going in with an ear piece. i took speech class in city college and i failed miserably. i just can't speak infront of a large crowd. there's a small chance that i would still do it, but as of right now, i don't think it's such a good idea. here's a comp of what i was suppose to paint.

has anyone ever watched heroes? you know that guy that paints the future, well that just happen to me=) i painted this about 3 months ago, and now i hear that david coperfield he's being charged with feeling up some girl. my piece is called david copafeel.

for the past 11 days i've been hanging out with my good friend alvaro sanz. we've been friends since i was 14 years old. the ins is on his tale so he had no choice but to leave us soil and head to spain. indeed a sad day for us. this was takin a couple of hours before his flight.

so after almost 2 weeks of basically doing nothing but hanging out, im behind some deadlines, and so driven to paint. here's something I just started. this is a quick sketch for the painting's background.

recently i've been loving green.

this piece is about high maintenance. been hanging out with a friend of mine, and she inspired this piece.
this is one of the pieces that i will show at dva gallery in chicago. shooting this was a bit tricky
cause it's very glossy, so i had to take one at an angle.

i started this as a personal piece.......then i figured why not knock 2 birds with one stone.
the artical fits in perfectly with what i was doing, so why not:) for idn magazine.
